Six weeks to a more confident you

Confidence in your smile begins with the alignment of your teeth. Has anyone ever asked why you don’t smile? In most if not all cases’ people who smile a lot have straight teeth.

In a recent independent study conducted by the AACD, it was discovered that:

  • Virtually all people interviewed (99.7%) believed a smile is an important social asset.
  • 96% of adults believe an attractive smile makes a person more appealing to members of the opposite sex.
  • Three-quarters (74%) of adults feels an unattractive smile can hurt a person’s chances for career success.

When asked, “What is the first thing you notice in a person’s smile?”

The most common responses were:

  • Straightness
  • Whiteness & Color of Teeth
  • Cleanliness of Teeth
  • Sincerity of Smile
  • Any Missing Teeth?
  • Sparkle of Smile

At Huntington Family Dental Group, we believe in the Invisalign method for several reasons:

  • Straightens teeth as a clear alternative to metal braces and can work faster than metal and cost less
  • Hygenic benefits of straighter teeth (and invisalign vs metal)
  • Healthier gums easier, cleanings, decreased wear on teeth
  • Comfortable to wear and easy to live with
  • Your smile is shown on a 3D computer image from start to finish. You see the teeth move in front of your eyes and the final smile, There is no guessing.

HoliDAZE

The Holidays are a time that is traditionally all about food and family. This is one of the few times during the year that you have license to eat emotionally. We all need to eat emotionally at times to help give us that inner sense of celebration and fulfillment. We all learned at a very young age that the holidays equal joy and plenty of goodies.

That being said it is all a matter of Moderation. While eating try to savor every bite and not shovel your food into your mouth. Be present mentally while you eat. Look at it, smell it, really taste all the flavors. This will help you gain that mental satiety with out the volume. Keep in mind that it takes an hour and a half of brisk walking to burn off the calories in a small piece of pie. It is also a well established fact that you can’t exercise away in one day, the amount of calories you can potentially pound down in one or two meals. I suggest drinking plenty of water during these eating events. It will help you feel fuller prior to eating a big meal. Another piece of advise I practice is only eating the things I love versus anything put in front of me. When snacking prior to dinner, pick the veggies and fruit if offered and nuts are a great way to take away the hunger.

Remember the goal is to enjoy the holiday and be healthy. The choices that you make should not lay the ground work for future disease

like high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity etc..

It is a matter of enjoyment not volume. You want to wake up tomorrow with joy not remorse over undoing the choices we made yesterday.

Finding new ways to deliver Dental Care

Welcome to the Huntington Family Dental Groups Blog page. What better way to begin than to discuss reasons behind our blog. For most of our patients  they visit  our office in Huntington CT for routine care and or consultation twice annually. During the visits we provide some form of education and or advice to our patients.  It’s not enough, so we decided to utilize new media and provide health and wellness information as well as tips and new products. We recognize the need to provide information on several media formats. We are on Facebook and twitter daily. We deliver a monthly newsletter  via email. And now we will blog twice per month.

We can’t do this without you however, so feel free to send along your questions and suggestions. HFDG is here to help whenever forever!
